The catalogue accompanied the exhibition which opened a series of presentations of various collections of the art and material culture of the Far East. It focused on Japanese art: paintings, ukiyo-e woodblock prints, sculptures, ceramics and glass ware, cloisonné enamels, lacquerware, netsuke and okimono, as well as tsuba and other metal products from the collections of the National Museum in Warsaw. This is the first such comprehensive publication presenting the collection compiled over the years, mostly through generous donations (from Ignacy Jan Paderewski, among others).
