I express myself through matter. I select suitable fibres, I test their possibilities and limitations. I experiment as long as it takes to make the matter obey me and yield to what I want to convey. At this stage practical skills are useful, yet creating handmade paper is not my goal but only means by which an end is achieved. The long process of creating successive works is a time for reflection which contains elements of prayer and meditation. I begin to construct the form from its middle and I am in its centre. Adding new fragments, I move in spirals towards its edges. For me the circle becomes a primordial form, an elementary shape and a symbol of Unity. I consider Unity as interdependence, mutual pervasion, and connection with the Universe; as being its part, constituent, element. The names of the works reveal the inspiration, and the inspiration in turn - their ancient provenience. Celestial bodies were named after the mythological gods. Using names taken from mythology is therefore its prolongation. What is at work here is perhaps the unconscious mechanism of appropriating and taming of the unknown. The mysterious and fascinating reality is right beyond our horizon.
