Wytrychowanie / Lockpicking / ピッキング. Piotr Bujak

Curated by Arata Hasegawa, the exhibition will be the first institutional solo presentation of Piotr Bujak’s work in Kraków. For nearly a decade, the artist was active primarily in Japan—participating, for example, in Tokyo Biennale 2025—where he continued developing an original working model based on reinterpreted Low Budget, Do-It-Yourself, Quick and Dirty, and Hit-And-Run strategies.

Bujak employs tactics of error, provisionality, improvisation, and the institutional “lockpick,” approaching his activities as tools for negotiating systems of visibility and social codes. His projects operate through an aesthetic of temporariness, examining relationships between everyday structures of reality-making and mechanisms of cultural adaptation.

The Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology will feature a selection of works from this period — situated between experimental anthropology and interdisciplinary comparative studies on the one hand and autoethnography and reflective practice on the other.
