In July 2016 the Manggha Museum prepared the exhibition ‘małe ciche. Irena Trzetrzewińska. paintings’, inaugurating a project focusing on the representation of nature in Japanese and Western art. Over a hundred of the artist’s works were shown, ranging from those painted in the 1960s to the most recent ones, from the 21st century. They are usually small compositions in oils and pastels, with only occasionally larger works, invariably on two subjects: landscape and still life.
Trzetrzewińska’s paintings captivated the viewers, unveiling before them a new planet – RT. This sounds like a paradox, of course, because Trzetrzewińska’s work is well known, not only to the lovers of paintings of the Tatras but also those who value ‘quiet life’
