Krystyna Zachwatowicz-Wajda and Andrzej Wajda

The exhibition organised to mark the 30th anniversary of establishing the Manggha Museum tells the story of the lives and oeuvre of its founders: Andrzej Wajda and Krystyna Zachwatowicz-Wajda. The space will be divided into two biographical timelines to present the two figures not only as remarkable creative personalities but also as a harmonious duet, both in professional endeavours and private lives. The exhibition will be composed of seven chapters. Its contents are based on such archival materials as documents, shooting scripts, projects, documentation of performances and film productions, photographs from the artists’ private collections, enriched by multimedia materials, scenography concepts, and costumes designed by Krystyna Zachwatowicz. The first five chapters will be devoted to private life, early stages of artistic career, social activism, cinema, and theatre, with the last two chapters of the exhibition focused on the founders’ travels to Japan, fascination with Japanese art, and the history of the establishment of the Manggha Museum.
