Shigeru Ban. Architecture and Social Contributions. Guided-tour

On Sunday, October 26, at 3:00 p.m., we invite you to a curator’s guided tour of the exhibition showcasing the work of one of the most outstanding contemporary architects – Shigeru Ban, laureate of the Pritzker Architecture Prize.

During the tour, curator Hubert Trammer will discuss the unique concept behind the exhibition, which features around 40 models and other physical objects. Visitors will see, among others, furniture and architectural elements at a 1:1 scale, as well as a reconstructed Paper Log House, built in areas affected by natural disasters. The exhibition also includes modules of the Paper Partition System, a fragment of a school built after the earthquake in China, and models that present projects in various scales and cross-sections – both from the outside and the inside.

Participants will learn how Shigeru Ban uses paper and other unconventional materials in humanitarian architecture, and how his designs respond to the needs of people in crisis situations. The exhibition also features a world map marking the locations of Ban’s projects, as well as a rich collection of photographs documenting these remarkable structures.

Thanks to its thoughtful design, the exhibition is both accessible and inspiring – not only for professionals, but also for anyone interested in contemporary architecture and its social dimension.

The tour will take place in the Europe – Far East Gallery. Capacity: 20 participants. Please note that no advance reservations are available – participation will be determined on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the event. To join the tour, please arrive a few minutes early at the main hall reception desk and wait for the guide. A valid ticket purchased on the day of the event is required for participation.
